Whiteford's latest single, "Water," captures the essence of strength through vulnerability. The track is a powerful exploration of the courage it takes to open up about the things in life that weigh us down or lead to dark thoughts. Whether it's to friends, professionals, a higher power, or simply the universe, "Water" encourages us to express our feelings and seek support.
The band emphasizes the importance of creating a safe space for those around us to share their emotions without fear of judgment. "It is also an encouragement to people close to us to be present and allow us the space and safety to be heard without judgment, to recognize that to feel emotions is to be human, and that we are not alone in that," they share. The goal is to help those who are struggling to move beyond difficult moments and rediscover hope and joy in life.
They are a band known for delivering raw, passionate rock songs that delve into the highs and lows of love, celebration, loss, and life. Their sound blends elements of modern and classic rock with blues, infusing each track with energy, emotion, and soul. With years of experience both on stage and in the studio, Whiteford is poised to break out of the local scene and onto larger stages, including the festival circuit. Their live shows, driven by energy and emotion, are an experience not to be missed.
They first emerged in 2016 with their debut EP, quickly earning a reputation as one of Sydney's most exciting up-and-coming rock acts. In 2018, they released their self-titled album, which included live favorites "She Joins Love" and "Words Like Bullets." These tracks gained airplay on radio stations across the country and received high praise from global rock media. In late 2022, Whiteford released The Acoustic EP, featuring the single "She's Amazing," marking their first release through their new label, XMusic.
2023 has been a busy year for Whiteford, with numerous local shows and headline spots, including a performance at the Convoy For Kids truck convoy and fair day, where they played to a crowd of over 2,000 people. They also celebrated the release of their latest video for the single "I'm Alright (Speedball Mix)" with a sell-out show. This track is also the theme song for Savage Speedball, a new cue sport game and upcoming TV show.
The band add "It is also an encouragement to people close to us to be present and allow us the space and safety to be heard without judgment, to recognise that to feel emotions is to be human, and that we are not alone in that. With the goal that those who are suffering can find a way to move beyond this moment and be able to feel hopeful and find the joy in life again.”
"Water is one of Whiteford's best and most emotional songs to date! The lyrics are worth hearing and sharing as with everyone's life's today it is OK to talk, to Speak UP and or simply listen to others!” - Tim McLean Smith - XMusic CEO
