Slipknot Played a Secret Show in the Desert With Suspected ex-Sepultura Drummer
Last night, April 25, shortly ahead of Sick New World and months before their awaited return down here in Melbourne; Slipknot took it to the deserts of California to start off 2024 like it's 1999 pulling out their old red tracksuits and revamped masks to debut in front of a crowd of hundreds at Pappy & Harriet’s, CA, playing a classic set list comprised heavily of the bands' 1999 self-titled album.
It all started with a billboard with the bands logo that teased “ONE NIGHT ONLY" “LONG MAY YOU DIE,” and then $9 tickets that sold out instantly (tickets benefitted Joshua Tree No Kill Shelter and Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Desert). And on top of debuting an awesome throwback look and accompanying setlist (see our gallery here to properly get a good glimpse), the band unveiled their new drummer at the unusual location of intimate Pioneertown, California venue Pappy + Harriett’s.
They didn’t explicitly confirm the identity of who was replacing Jay Weinberg onstage, but the playing style and ink on the man behind the kit all point towards it most definitely being Eloy Casagrande – an ex-Sepultura drummer.
