Kittie to Premiere "Eyes Wide Open," First Song in 13 Years

Canadian heavy metal band Kittie is set to premiere their new song "Eyes Wide Open," marking their first release in 13 years. The track will debut at midnight EST on February 13 on Sirius XM's Liquid Metal and will be on rotation every hour throughout the day.

Kittie, consisting of members Morgan Lander, Mercedes Lander, Tara McLeod, and Ivana "Ivy" Vujic, has been a prominent figure in the metal scene since their formation in 1996. Originally gaining recognition for their debut album "Spit" in 1999, and going on to provide the most recognizable female representation in the nu-metal scene.

The band's connection to nu-metal stems from their early years when the genre was at its peak. While their music incorporates elements of thrash, groove, and alternative metal, Kittie's raw energy and fierce attitude resonated with nu-metal fans, earning them a dedicated following, and the slow re-surface of nu-metal culture and sound seeping into mainstream trends over the last few years may be to thank for them releasing this new track.

Despite their hiatus, Kittie's influence on the metal scene has remained strong. Their return with "Eyes Wide Open" will definitely not disappoint.
