Cicadastone Release the "Future Echoes" Acoustic EP along with Video For Lead Track, 'Burn Your Name'
-
Melbourne rock outfit Cicadastone has once again made waves with the release of their latest album, Future Echoes. Born from the ashes of the grunge rock greats, the band effortlessly channels '90s rock influences while managing to bring a modern, fresh edge to their sound. It’s a delicate balance, but one Cicadastone handles with ease, staying authentic to the genre while carving out their own space in the ultra-competitive rock scene—a difficult task when it seems like everything's been done before. Their unique sound has been solidified over the course of two previous albums, 2016's Chance Collide and 2020's Cold Chamber.
2024 marks a massive creative leap forward for Cicadastone, with Future Echoes making their boldest statement yet. Leaning on the best elements from their earlier releases, the album pushes sonic boundaries even further. The first single, In The Crossfire, is a modern classic rock track with an upbeat energy, while the title track, Future Echoes, showcases the band’s growing diversity.
Building on the success of the album, the band has just dropped the Future Echoes EP—a selection of tracks reworked and re-recorded in an acoustic setting. Stripped back to their core, these songs offer a fresh take, highlighting both the emotional depth and musical versatility of Cicadastone. To lead the EP, the band released a video for the track Burn Your Name, an emotional rollercoaster that delivers on its powerful lyrics and raw instrumentation.
Frontman Mat Robins shared the meaning behind Burn Your Name:
“It’s about being caught at a crossroads in time, looking back on your past while learning from mistakes made, and looking at your unknown future. Letting go of things you might regret and taking a new step forward isn’t easy, but we all do it sooner or later. Burn Your Name is burning your old identity and starting new."
With Future Echoes and the acoustic reimagining of its tracks, Cicadastone continues to prove they’re a force to be reckoned with, making solid inroads in the rock world and staying true to their roots while forging ahead into new sonic territory.
